  2. The French Revolution started as one of fear. The French were trying to get away from authoritarian government while the Bolshevik revolution only wanted the czar out of power because the country was screwed up and Czar Nicholas was listening to Rasputin. They are the same in that they both ended up with authoritarin gov'ts. Karl Marx influenced the Bolshevik Revolution with his communist manifesto. His manifesto gave the Bolsheviks the idea for the revolution and that is how they modeled their gov't afterward.......

  3. The French Revolution pretty much began because the Third Estate was tired of being weighed down with taxes and the burdens of the upper class. That was during the reign of Louis XIV, who had absolutely no idea what was going on. The people wanted to have more say in the government, and they wanted mor rights. Karl Mark's theory came afterwards, and he stated that one class was always oppressing the other; the proletariats would eventually overthrow the bourgeosie. The Bolsheviks took his doctrines and got rid of the czar because they believed that they were fighting for the people. Communism was supposed to see the end of government, but instead the party wanted to have all power. The Bolsheviks also wanted everyone to be equal, whereas the people in the French Revolution wanted MORE equality.

  4. Both the French and Bolshevik Revolution were violent. The French Revolution started out of financial difficulties. The Third Estate was paying heavy taxes to pay for France's ever increasing debt. Also, they wanted to be created equal to the First and Second Estates. Furthermore, soldiers who served in the American Revolution saw the success and wanted to give it a try in France. The Bolshevik Revolution was started with one man's ideas, Lenin. He found revolutionary faith in Marxian socialism, which became very popular. Him and his followers turned to Marx of 1848 and The Communist Manifesto for inspiration. Both revolutions were started by the poor classes. They both were trying to get more equality. Finally, in both revolutions the people didn't like the way they were being ruled and wanted to gain more freedoms. ~Caitlin Hanousek
