Acronyms and Mnemonics to help a brother or sister out
People and Rulers:
Charles II—Impotent Imbecile (Ruler of Spain during War of Spanish Succession)
Robert Koch—Germ theory—Kochroches are dirty and Germy!
Richard Awkright—Invented the water frame. Noah’s Ark has a strong Frame so it can stay in the WATER!
René Descartes—Deductive method and systematic Doubt
Robert (Bob) Peel—rePEELED the Corn Laws and made a new police force called the “BOBBIES”
Montesquieu—Checks and balances (so things don’t go askew)
Hobbes—Social contract and Chaos (Calvin and Hobbes are social friends and they cause chaos)
Ricardo—Iron law of wages (Ricky Ricardo has an Iron Law of Wages for Lucy).
Malthus—Population/arithmetic ratio (Malthus sounds like MATH!)
Montaigne—Sounds like MOUNTAIN. Skepticism—Can mountains be moved?
English Dynasties—Normandy, Plantagenet, Lancaster, York Tudor Stuart, Orange, Hanover, Windsor

Maastricht Treaty—Set basis for a common currency, the euro. Baastricht sounds kind of like sheep; sheep are all the same. The euro is the same currency for all of Europe
Glasnost—Policy of “openness” under Gorbachev. The GLASS is NOT there, the window is open!
Perestroika—Repere (repair) and restroikture (restructure) the economy, under Gorbachev
Alliances and Countries
Partitions of Poland—Between Prussia, Austria, and Russia
Triple Entente—France, Britain, and Russia. “Entente” is a French word, so France MUST be included!
Wars:
Napoleonic Wars—ARG! Austria, Russian, and Great Britain
Thirty Years War-Bohemian Danish Swedish French (Baboons Don’t ski FAST!)
Wars of Austrian succession—Treaty of Aix La Chappelle (La is feminine and the war was about a woman: Maria Theresa)
Seven Years War-Partitions of Poland (Seven Years War, Poland no more!)

    there was a lot of military action going on and everyone wanted their military the biggest,many alliances which kind of created the war, imperialism:everyone wanted to be known world wide, and nationalism: everyone wanted to be united!
